Yes it was very difficult, it’s hard to explain potential cut when performance is high.

Hi Drew--sometimes as leaders we are delivering messages that simply make no sense--that our out of our control. I like the way that you framed your process. And even in the delivering of difficult news we can and need to remain positive about the work and the staff. thank you!

Hi Drew, I definitely thought about how the reaction would be about cuts being made even though the program was performing at a high level. It is one of those situations that is unfair and hard to explain. I like the support you are offering, but do you think discussing assistance with resume writing might dampen the positive manner of your message since it might convey that job losses are inevitable?

Hey Rob, It does kind of feel that way... I guess I thought about it in terms of what my needs might be if I was laid off but that idea may have been a little premature.
