After completing the activity, post your responses to the following questions and then reply to the posts of two other classmates.
o Was it difficult to craft the message?
I didn't find it difficult to craft the message. While it wasn't enjoyable news, I knew it needed to contain elements of praise, honesty and reflect I respected and cared for my audience.
o What were the factors you considered while crafting your message?
I considered that staff would not be able to reconcile our strong performance with the closing of the program.
o What were the factors you considered about delivering this message?
Because this directly impacts people and their livelihoods, I thought it was important they hear it in person from their leadership. I allotted time for questions because I didn't want staff to feel like we were hiding something from them.

Amanda - I liked how you stated that you needed to contain the positive elements - showing care and compassion for your employees. I think this is very important when meeting with employees. Using the "sandwich" when communicating difficult messages is a very effective approach.
