A leader I chose that is a good communicator is Marlee Matlin. At an early age I was intrigued by Marlee Matlin. She was the first deaf actress that I had seen - actually, I think she was the first deaf person that I "knew" at such a young age. I could relate to her personality and her sense of humor. Even though she did not communicate "like me" - I could understand her and the differences in our communication seemed to disappear. She has been nominated for many awards during her career and most recently interpreted the Star Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl. Marlee is also involved in many charitable organizations - according to one website she was appointed Honorary Board Member for Easter Seals
Aspects of her communication style that I will try to employ is her ability and dedication to have various communication styles. An example of this is when she signs her response and also she will speak aloud her response. She doesn't rely on one method of communication or let communication be a barrier for her.
Marlee has had a traumatic past - that she has openly discussed. Her resiliency inspires me - not only as a deaf person in a predominately non-deaf culture/career, but as a woman who has overcome significant trauma and persevered.

Very interesting response -- and a clear indication that communication indeed impacts all of the senses!
